Dr. Marcos Eguiguren Huerta
Former Executive Director of Global Alliance for Banking on Values. Co-founder SingularNet Consulting, SL. Professor business administration Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Economist, entrepreneur, and expert in change management, strategic planning, and sustainable business model.
Marcos brings strategic vision and a wealth of experience as an entrepreneur, consultant, and manager. His professional expertise includes finance and banking, consulting, and advising corporations on sustainable business models, strategic planning, change management, training, and research.
As Executive Director of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV), the worldwide alliance of ethical and sustainable banks, Marcos built the values-based banking movement and grew that work with members, partners, experts, and policymakers to influence the banking system to be more transparent, ethical, robust, and real-economy focused.
Marcos is the cofounder of SingularNet, a mid-sized professional services firm whose main goal is to help organizations incorporate sustainability in their DNA and their day to day business. He is also currently Professor of Business Administration at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Mel King Community Fellow of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Between 2008 and 2015, Marcos was the only Spanish member of the Supervisory Board and the Audit and Risk Committee of Triodos Bank NV, the leader in ethical banking in Europe. Marcos holds other supervisory board positions in companies in industries such as leisure and publishing.
Up until December 2011, Marcos was Partner and Managing Director of Grupo Empresarial Inmark, S.A. In 2009, he co-founded the Steering Committee of the BICK consortium, a pan European alliance that designed and delivered strategy, finance, and management skills and development programs for the European Union and other large organizations. Marcos has held top management positions in international banks (BBVA and Barclays) in Spain and abroad and has started several different companies in industries including financial services, technology, and professional services.
In February 2020, Marcos was awarded the international Friends of Global Alliance for Banking on Values Award, for his noteworthy contribution to the advancement of Values-based banking. Marcos has written many articles and essays in both Spanish and foreign publications on organization, finance, management, and the economy of training and development. He has also published two novels.
Marcos is married with three children and a granddaughter. He is passionate about sports, in particular basketball, skiing, and mountain biking.
