Pape is a global social entrepreneur and impact leader specialized in international development, youth and women livelihoods, and social innovation. He has more than 20 years of leadership experience in program and resource development, fundraising, partnership building, entrepreneurship, strategic planning, training and facilitation, content management, and public speaking.
For the past two decades, he has been focused on identifying, sourcing, and supporting leaders and entrepreneurs with new pattern-changing innovations, trendsetters, and role models who can inspire others to reproduce and scale up their impact.
Prior to his current role as Global Vice President and Executive Director of Ashoka Africa, Pape founded and served as the CEO and Chairman of the Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN), a youth-run and led network of over 6,000 young leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, and farmers in almost 100 countries. He also served as President of Exeleadmen International Consulting and is an Adjunct Professor and Executive in Residence at American University’ School of Public Affairs where he developed the Global Shared Value Leadership (GSVL) certificate program.
As the CEO of the Phelps Stokes Foundation, he developed the educational leadership capacity of under-served communities in Africa, the African Diaspora, and the Americas.
Pape is dedicated to educating underserved communities about social innovation, livelihoods, inclusiveness, particularly empowering youth, and women in the global south, helping them become self-sufficient and connecting them with the resources and skills they need to achieve their goals. Over the past 10 years, Pape has raised more than $35 million for several organizations. He has traveled extensively and done work in almost 100 countries.
Pape is an active public speaker on the national and international forefront and has spoken at Qatar Foundation, Gandhi Research Foundation, OECD, World Food Prize, International Technology Education and Development, United Nations, World Bank, USAID, Columbia Business School, Wharton University to name a few.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Diploma in Business Management, Accounting, and Entrepreneurship. He also holds a Masters in Executive Leadership from American University in Washington, D.C, and has won several awards including Leadership in Excellence, Next Generation of Leaders, Great Heart, Self-Less Founder, and Community Counterpart.
He is fluent in English, French, and Wolof, and conversational in Spanish and several West African languages.
